The February meeting of the Fostoria Coin Club was called to order on February 17th, 2025, at 7:30pm by President Brandeberry, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 24 members and 2 guests (Andrew Weyer, Seth Crosby) present.
Two members are ill – Rich McClellan and Roger Keefe.
The minutes and treasury report were reviewed and approved as read.
OLD BUSINESS:
Chuck updated that Coin World's subscription service is arriving monthly, but still missing the weekly editions.
Chuck attempted to contact Rex James with no success.
Dave Knepper sends his thanks for the Christmas card. He also attended the coin show in Chicago.
The Christmas half dollars were presented to members who missed the December meeting.
Officers for 2025 were sworn in.
Members will want to watch for Denali quarters, since the name will be changing.
SHOW BUSINESS: March 23rd, 2025
Vini recapped the committees, and asked everyone to sell raffle tickets.
There are 4 dealers so far, for a total of 6 tables.
New members' dues will be paid by Vini for the first year as an incentive.
Fostoria Police will provide security.
For the hourly drawings, the club will utilize the new PA system for better communication.
The club will have the building for both Sat. & Sun. Setup will start at noon on Sat.
NEW BUSINESS:
There was discussion about the penny being discontinued. Canada eliminated theirs in 2012. 2024 D Nickels are going for $5-8 due to low mintage.
Last chance for Red Books at the club price.
Dues are due - $5/regular, $1/ junior
The timeline of our meetings was discussed. Doors open at 630pm for members to bring in items for selling or discussion prior to the meeting start time of 730pm.
Jason offered to laminate membership cards.
Harry and Gary motioned and seconded to adjourn the meeting.
Door prizes were drawn, and an auction followed.
