April 15th, 2024 Coin Club Minutes
The meeting was called to order at 7:30pm by President Chuck Brandeberry, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. There were 24 members plus 1 potential member present. The March minutes were read and approved. Vini read the Treasury report and it was approved.
Old Business
Chuck passed around an article about the Boy Scout merit badge requirements.
Show Business
Vini recapped the show numbers.
Advertising was the same. Saved money on raffle prizes. Supplies cost was up due to the wooden nickels.
Dealer tables were $990, down from 2023. Raffle tickets brought in $1272. Total income $2352.
Advertising committee recommended not advertising in BG's Sentinel-Tribune (only 2 days/week)
Only purchased 12 Red Books so the club did not have any to sell at the show. It was discussed to buy a full case for next year as many members indicated they would purchase a majority.
Will send flyers to the Norwalk Coin Show next year
PA system - some complaints that they couldn't hear announcements.
Received 4 new member applications
Attendance was 250-300
Learning Center was pleased with clean up
Dealer suggested changing times but club decided to stay at 9-4
RSS supplied a defibulator and first aid supplies, and will do so next year
Vic donated more door/raffle prizes
Next year's date is secured - Sunday, March 23rd, 2025
Vini and Chuck thanked all the members and committee leaders for their team effort. The club thanked Vini for him chairing the show.
New Business
New member, David Dearsman, was voted in.
Vic offered a $100 contribution to Aaron for his purchase of the table cart, and asked the club to contribute the difference. Vic made a motion for the club to do so, seconded by John M.
The club discussed the meeting time changing, especially in inclement weather. Currently doors open at 630pm. The first step would be a proposal in writing and then proceed thru the following 2 meetings in order to change the bylaws. The club would need to ask if the center is available as classes may not be finished at that time. We do not meet if there is a Level 2, but that is not in the bylaws - just past practice.
The local YMCA has a kids' activity program and we could visit and talk about our hobby to get some younger people interested.
Harry and Gary motioned and seconded for adjournment. Following the meeting were door prizes and auction items.
